New TCU, but dealer still says CPT9000 needed?
I recently found out that my dealer has changed the TCU in my car without even telling me due to I-drive crashes, they just told me they just did software upgrade. Recently, one technician told me that my car now has a new TCU from past service, and I was surprised to get that info. However, after 1 hour with courtesy car, the technician told me on the phone that even with new TCU, the CPT9000 and BTUM are still necessary for Bluetooth to work, and he is programming the car to accept the CPT9000 and BTUM. With the new TCU, wouldn't the kit and BTUM not be necessary anymore? I have jan 2004 prod e60 here in Canada. Thanks guys!!

With the new TCU, BT should work without the BTUM but there may be other variables involved. One of those variables might just be a clueless dealer...imagine that!
