Guys, I believe my 545i was built on 3/24/04 via the passkey sheet that i have, i own a motorola q, and i am having a difficult time setting up the phone to work wiht my i-drive. If possible could someone offer guidance or help or point me to a thread that would be helpful.

It might be simpler if you tell us the steps you're taking and/or what is happening when you try. Is there a Bluetooth menu on the car? Have you read the telephone manual?:

Rudy when I go to the communication tab on the i-drive system it just list phone or bmw assist, my dealer gave me this passkey sheet and said it would be simple all i had to do was on my phone pull up the blue tooth mananger and enter a code on the idrive but i cant seem to get my phone to find a blue tooth device. do I have to have a new software istalled to get the bluetooth to work?

If you go to the settings menu (press down from the main menu), do you see any reference to bluetooth or communications?

Your car, even with a new software version, may never have had the bluetooth retrofit procedure done.

Rudy it sure doesnt man, according to the manual you sent me, it looks like I will have to take the car to service to have a new update installed. Is this a pain to have done, or are most technicians aware of this issue?

If your software is current, then according to the bulletin I posted, the dealer just has to perform a "Retrofit" of "Tel Bluetooth" to make it work. That's not as big of a project as an entire recoding of the car.

I don't know where you're located (put you location in your profile so we can help you better) but it's safe to say that many dealers/technicians are clueless about all these little intricacies of our cars. If you're one of the lucky ones who has a dealer that knows what to do, then great. If you're not as lucky, then show them the bulletin and maybe they'll be able to figure things out...

Anyone know a dealer/SA that can enable BT on my '04 545i in the Phoenix, AZ area without making me jump through hoops? I took it to Chapman BMW on Camelback today. They quoted me $400, and said that wouldn't be a guarantee it would work! Unbelievable.
