My Ride: 2005 530i jet black, NAV, premium, automatic, xenon
I am trying to decide between '04 or '05 530iA. (premium, steptronic, xenon, NAV)
I have been getting conflicting reports as to whether the '04 can be upgraded to integrate the navigation system with the bluetooth phone system. If it can, I will likely go for the better deal offered on the '04. Can anyone give insight on the ability to upgrade the '04 or if the BT system is even available on the early '05s? Any other insights on MY 2004 vs. MY 2005 differences is also appreciated.

Bluetooth retrofit for the 04 is nothing more than a rumor. The rumored date never gets here. I would get the 05 if bluetooth is available for it. My e60 is great car. I am thrilled with mine after 4,000 miles.

People are just receiving their '05s. So we should know very shortly if they truly are coming pre-configured with BT, or if the BT wait continues.

The latest word I've heard was that bluetooth is indeed available on '05's except it's not being installed at the factory. It's being pre-wired at the factory and installed by the folks at the VDC while they try to integrate it as a factory install. It'll also be standard option, meaning included, no cost, free which explains why it's not on the pricing sheets.
Sucks for us 04 guys...

I agree is sucks for us. Also you are right about the 05s having the BT integrated at the VDC. Supposedly this is delaying the cars there for a few addl days.

Wouldn't you get the new engine with MY 05? If so, that is all the info I would need.

Tell me about the new engine. I wasn't aware of a change in the engine, only some dash trim, reconfiguration of the preemium package and bluetooth/Nav system interface.
By the way, thanks to all for the comments. This is my first time on ANY bulletin board. Only one I've found worthwhile.
