I saw your helpful post prior to registering and it solved my sync problem with the myTouch4g temporarily. Oddly enough, it won't sync contacts again. I have been through and through the list and can't find anything... Any ideas by chance? My car is a 2007 525i w/NAV.

Well,
The exact problem happened with me 2, but I discovered that it was my other messenger that kept syncing my phone book (messengers like skype and msn and gmail) they would add contacts which caused the phonebook to stop working.
Go over everything once again and do not allow these messenger apps to sync and bring in junk data into your phone book, you should be okay.
