Music through Bluetooth
#21
I decided to go with the Griffin BlueTrip AUX. I am going to use it and a 6" cable in the back of my center console. I think it will keep the wire mess to a minimal and do the job. Here is a pic and a link.

I found this one on Monoprice.com for $20 + $6 shipping. Use a standard USB cable to power it from the USB connection in the BMW (if yo have it). On eBay there are even cheaper ones shipping from China. I think to make this work, one has to make the phone only communicate the A2DP streaming music to it and then connect to the car's Bluetooth for the phone calls and data transfer. Under your phone's Bluetooth options you can select which services a certain devices is allowed to access.

Best way to get BT streaming is Dension 500 + Dension BTA1500 adapter. Full OEM integration into iDrive and music stops/resumes when calls come in. Can even skip tracks on my iPhone via steering wheel.
Not cheap setup however.

aight guys reporting back, i got the Griffin BlueTrip in today. got it all set up, i like how its just a tiny adapter that plugs into the cig lighter. I have it in the back one with a short aux cord (4 inches). pairing was a piece of cake it paired right up. now the only downside...and it just happens to be a deal breaker for me. the audio from it is lower volume than what it should be. i did a test, played a clip with the griffin, then unhooked it and hooked my phone via wire, it was like twice as loud! with the griffin its low volume and I have to crank my radio to max to make the my system even bump (BSW stage 1, jl audio 8 w3)....sooooo looks like i'm going back to wired hookup
