K800i Bluetooth paring OK, but BMW E60 connects as phone, not as carki
Hi all,
Since 3 days I'm the proud owner of a BMW E60.
I tried several times to get my K800i working with the BT carkit, but did not succeed yet :-(.
I can pair the K800i, no problem at all, but the BMW BT device does appear with a phone icon in the list of my K800i and not as a carkit. I can not manage to get the phonebook transfered and I'm not able to do any calls.
Does anybody knows what I have to do, in order to get the right connection?
Normally a BT connection will change the BT indication icon of the K800i into the bluetooth icon + the 2 blue arrows, indicating there is a connection at that moment. With the BMW, there nothing happening with this icon and I can only scroll to the BMWxxxx device and select Services as option and not the usual Connect, when it would be a carkit or headset.
Maybe my problem is related to a software version in my BMW E60 from may 2004?
My guess is that the BMW BT carkit is does not send the correct device ID and therefore acts like a phone, instead of a carkit?
Maybe somebody can help me out?
Thanks!
Kind Regards,
Koen Hak

It might be that you have to update the cars cip so you should better ask to your BMW service.

I am using a SE 800i as well as a car phone and I have no problems whatsoever. Neither I had them with my previous E61 from the 2005.

I guess so too, so I will contact the dealer this week, to check with them if I need a SW update, because I did not succeed in getting a proper BT connection yet. Tried with K800i, K810i, K750i, T610 and an iPhone 1.1.4. Nothing happend.
And I know the Iphone can not connect to other phones and the Iphone was the only one who could not recognize the BMW BT carkit, as it is not a carkit but will appear as a phone on all other phones.
Thanks for your answer, will let you all know what the story of the dealer is :-)
