iPhone - Keypad Digits

I recently got an iPhone (great phone), and have sucessfully paired it with my 530i. I can't seem to get it to automatically dial the digits I need to access my voice mail at work. I put in the "pause", and the password into my contact list. It works fine on the phone, but when I dial it from the car, it just dials the number (not the password). It worked fine with the Razr that the iPhone replaced
Any ideas?

Does your iPhone have a nice connection with the bluetooth in the car, mine has a lot of crackles and dropouts....

This is not just a problem with the iPhone but even my WM5 HTC TyTN aka Orange M3100 has this 'bug'.
