any CDN owners here? i have a friend here who has issues with his iPhone and iPod touch on his X5 and i'm wondering if I will suffer from the same problem. we just ordered a 2008 535i coming soon (ETA Feb 20!!!). the products are not being recognized in the car's audio system.

note, both our friend's X5 and 535i are 2008 models.

I assume he has the 6FL option.

First, he has to use the BMW supplied cable. It won't work properly with the apple cable.

Second, he need the most recent cable, as they updated it to work with the iPod Touch. The newer cable has a small lump in the middle, compared to the large lump in the old cable.

oh so we do need this "y-cable" the salesman was telling us. we just got our 535i yesterday! w00t! anyhow when he was doing the walk around, we tried to use the iPhone to output audio but nothing came up. we got the 6FL option too.

btw, what are the capabilities of this USB port? can i just load a bunch of mp3s on a USB flash drive and plug it in?

 

UPDATE: we got the y-cable and the iPod/iPhone works much better. i noticed before when using the original usb cable, it would file each song in Fxx folder. now when using the cable, it displays all the names of all the songs... pretty neat. it works like using a usb flash drive with mp3s on it.

i have 1 major problem now...when picking up the car the dealer, we had just my iPhone paired up but not my dad's. so we attempted to do it and for some reason, it would not connect. i thought, that's weird. lemme delete my profile and start fresh. still didn't work. so i thought i might as well try mine and sadly enough mine too didn't work! omg omg HELP!!!

at the dealer, i had firmware 1.1.1 and had upgraded to 1.1.3. it worked fine all the way thru up until i tried to add dad's iPhone. he's still on 1.1.1 so i really don't know what's going on. i really need some help...

 

false alarm, i got the BT to work. it involved me coming back to the car minutes later to retry. weird!!!
