iPhone Bluetooth / Address Book sync solved !!!
#1
I've spent days forum surfing trying to find a definitive answer regarding iPhone 2G w/ 2.0 or 2.0.1 software syncing contacts (address book) from iPhone to iDrive.
This was my setup:
2004 530i 03/04 build
Complete progman update on 08/05/08 and paid stealer add'l $134 to install bluetooth software in iDrive
iPhone 2G unlocked / jailbroken to 2.0 using pwnage
This was my problem:
I could pair the iPhone via bluetooth, make and receive calls, but I could not get the address book to sync over. When I'd go into A - Z it would always say 'Please Wait ...' . It would not show numbers missed in 'Missed Calls'. It would not list anything in my 'top 8', etc.. Basically nothing worked except I could place and receive calls via the phone or manually dial the number via idrive controller.
It is now fixed!!
Last night I downgraded my iPhone back to 1.1.4 and everything works great! Address book syncs. 'Missed Calls' , 'Received Calls' , 'Top 8', etc ... all work properly. Voice dial works - although you have to be loud and articulate - more so than with the general voice commands.
From this, my conclusion is that any E60 (and likely other models) since 03/04 will pair and offer full functionality of bluetooth with pre 3G iPhones running 1.1.4 (even after downgrading from 2.0 or 2.0.1) with E60 at current progman and bluetooth software.
