That may be true. I think they've already said that you can't buy music from the phone. But you can still transfer any MP3 from anywhere in your collection to the phone through iTunes. You don't HAVE to buy it from the iTunes store.

Right, so pushing files from the phone over Bluetooth isn't something that Apple will be too excited about. We already know it won't synch with Outlook, and it makes sense that they won't be ready to allow pushing music files to a non-Apple device.

The big question isn't really whether the BT headset profile will work in the car, it is whether the phonebook transfer will work. Although, sometimes failure of contact synch will crash the phone, like on the original Motorola V710 release.

Well, my Verizon Q transfers media via bluetooth - anything I want. All day long.

Anyone who says they'd want to transfer media over BT has never tried it. It's a slow and painful process. Fine for a ringtone or two, but not a music library or a large video.

Oh, the Q is sweet for BT transfers, no question it has a full stack. Problem is it does not have BREW, so no navigation. You don't need it if you have nav onboard. Media? I think that 5MB in <1 minute is OK. Bluetooth is just as quick as your home wireless network, and it has DUN so you can tether on the road, away from the car.

Maybe your home wireless network but not mine. Even when comparing 2.0+EDR to 802.11a/g BT is still slower. BT is nice for quick single file transfers and to use as a wireless modem.

Not so. You can cobble together a Java implementation. However, it's not necessary since there is an Active X "map4pda" application that can make use of Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Ask Maps, and MySimon Maps.

Bluetooth is waaaay slower than a home wireless connection. Also, I wouldn't dream of doing a large media transfer via WiFi in the first place. I'm just saying - it's slow - certainly not the way to fill a 2GB card with media.

Well, OK. I was referring to Dial Up Networking (DUN) and Internet downloads. BT DUN will not cripple the download speeds. But we can agree about transferring files around your house, that BT isn't the way to go.

Yeah, we just misunderstood each other. I was talking simply about getting stuff onto the phone (or off of it). Sorry for the confusion.
