it works on JB/Unlocked phones on t-mobile but not for AT&T yet, they're holding out on until end of summer but i also heard they're pushing it back to September.

Did you guys read all the headlines Apple is making today? Claiming that jailbreaking your iPhone will open it up to terrorist attacks and drug dealers and they want the government to make it illegal to hack your phone?

Well yes and no!

Apple says that modification of the phone's software, a process known as jailbreaking, could lead to major network disruptions. Jailbreaking gets around the copyright control features that prohibit, for example, the installation of applications unapproved by Apple.

Jailbreaking continues to be popular with iPhone users, who can also then use their devices on the networks of operators who have not signed distribution deals with Apple.

Apple argues that the practice constitutes copyright infringement. No one has been prosecuted for jailbreaking, although Apple discourages it.

Since the OS code is accessible on a jailbroken phone, Apple said it would be possible to reprogram one to gain access to the phone's BBP (baseband processor), which controls the connection to the operator's network.

"Because jailbreaking makes hacking of the BPP software much easier, jailbreaking affords an avenue for hackers to accomplish a number of undesirable things on the network," the filing said.

By gaining access to the BPP, hackers could change the phone's ECID (exclusive chip identification), which identifies a phone to the transmission towers, Apple said.

"With access to the BBP via jailbreaking, hackers may be able to change the ECID, which in turn can enable phone calls to be made anonymously (this would be desirable to drug dealers, for example) or charges for the calls to be avoided," Apple said.
And here's a comment that sums up the best of my thoughts:

These are yet more signs of the times of a society going more and more criminal on the basis "If I don't get caught it's OK."

If Apple's claims about the potential major damages jailbreaking can facilitate are true, then there are going to be counter measures initiated which we'll all have to put up with--all because we failed to teach young Rollo the difference between right and wrong.

How are you guys getting MMS on your iPhones? Are you guys using third party programs from the App store or Cydia? It would be nice if there was a solution that was compatible with the default SMS app. If Google Voice started offering MMS, that would solve all my problems.
I get MMS natively. I do nothing

Seriously now, i understand your question is targeted at the US audience, but all i can say is that after i upgraded to 3.0 i sent the MMS just as i would send a normal SMS, and the receiver confirmed it. Nice feature but haven't used it ever since.

For the old iPhon2g (Edge). You need cydia, no real way around that.

For iPhone3g, All you have to do is update your carrier config file (IPCC).
It's super easy.

If Apple dont want people to jailbreak their phone they should supply all the "normal" features other phone provide. Pretty easy really.

mine has been jailbroken from day 1
