I wonder what do you mean by plugging the workaround?!
I guess he means how long until Apple blocks this workaround with an update. (counter attacks, lol)

Simply navigate to the "Program files" directory, then the itunes folder.

You can try typing... cd \Program files\itunes or
cd \
cd program files
cd itunes

Once you're there you can type "itunes.exe" /setprefint carrier-testing 1".
then follow the instructions on the site. You're simply replacing your carrier settings.

OT: I had MMS working this weekend, but somehow come Monday morning, it stopped. Any ideas anyone?

That what i was thinking. From what i have read, ATT (US Carrier) did not want tethering available at this time, yet this relatively simple jewel of a command allows us to utilize it? I would think ATT would be harping on Apple to 'plug' this hole if enough people are exploiting it (although some have indicated that determining who is tethering in this manner is not possible).

In any case, i'm going to enjoy it! Thanks again!

There's no point in "closing" this hole per-say. The APN for "legit" tethering is isp.cingular (i think), versus the one the Iphone uses by default (as all other "unlimited data" plans non-tethering]) which is wap.cingular.
if they honestly wanted to, they could detect who's tethering and who's not just by your settings.

Plus the carrier settings is the way they let overseas countries manage what options work with the phone.
Data, Tethering, MMS, Visual Voice-mail are the 4 strings that are edited per carrier in the IPCC bundle.

p.s. I'm sure bettermakway and his infinite wisdom should be enlightening us sometime soon.
