I was getting a little frustrated with my iPhone not syncing the contacts over to the idrive and decided that some internet searching was in order. I found this web site which accurately describes what to do (basically adding 2000 contacts to your phone).

http://blog.scoopz.com/2008/10/11/fix-for-...nising/#windows

I've tried this and now my idrive shows all the contacts and appears to work completely

N.B. My iPhone would connect before but would not sync contacts.

Good Luck

Dom

P.S. My car is 530d 2005 with media pack.

Did you have to wait for 20-30 mins before all the contacts appeared on the iDrive screen?

My iPhone G1, worked fine with the 1.1.2 software , but after upgrading to 1.1.3 the connections fails if I call someone or recieve a call..

I've just upgraded to V2.1 and hope it will work better now.

It does take a couple of minutes but not 20-30min. I almost gave up waiting (But i have no patience). Give it a few minutes before you bail and see if it works for you.

Cheers,
-Chris.

Hello, Dom

Thanks very much for the link.
My car is 525i 2004 with internal phone. Would you know if that may be the reason why my iPhone doesn't seem to work with the car via Bluetooth?
Also just curious what's the media pack and how do I know if I've got one as well in my car.
Thanks, Andrey

I have an 05 545i, newly flashed with the latest software from the dealer. Iphone 2.1. Never had a problem getting the contacts to sync. Even before the update. Wonder why the inconsistencies?

I have an 08 LCI (media package) and the snap in connector for my 3G iPhone works a treat.

It fits correctly with no issues with scratching (as recorded on some posts) and it syncs all contacts with the iDrive.

The snap in connector DOES also charge the phone.

I only wish I could use the iPod aspect to play tracks via iDrive - Anyone any ideas?

With the snap in adapter I do not have access to the iPhone doc or the headphone socket
