iPhone 3.0 Address Book Transfer

Not sure if anyone has observed any changes with their iPhones since 3.0. Unfortunately since I upgraded to 3.0 I can no longer see my address book in my 04 545. I've tried repairing the phone which was not easy in itself but still no AB. I also changed the name of my phone thinking that this would help. Finally I took out the fake contacts thinking that they were no longer needed.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue or I'm I the only one experiencing this issue?

1) On my 04 530i, my address book transfers fine.
2) On my new 2010 535i, the address book - with all phone numbers AND addresses - transfer over just fine.
I'm running the iPhone 3.0 sofware.
