install problems with gateway 500 no cd changer fitted

running into trouble on this install left car in with dealer to get coded for cd changer
they just rang me to say they cant code it as dension unit not being picked up on computer
the mask idrive plays mp3
anybodyknow what procedure is for this
dension customer sevice is cronic and their literature is just as bad

I had trouble getting mine coded... I asked the tech guy directly to just fiddle with the on/off switch during the software update on the car... it took a while he said of going back and
forth but it finally showed up as an ipod interface... I think for part of the software update the unit needs to be OFF, but then when it's time to code it in it has to be ON..

Tell the dealer to code it as the iPOD unit and it will work as well.

how is a car like that.. a M5.. doesnt have the ipod interface standard??? i think its outrageous that bmw charges extra for things like that when you purchase a car like that..

atleast you can put stuff on an M5 to make it cool, but you can never make a cool car an M5.

stealer basically that they cant code it in as it is not OEM, so they disconnected it
looks like only option is to buy a bmw cd changer install it bring it back to get coded and then uninstall it and reinstall dension

Sorry to hear this.. 
I'd try a different dealer if that's possible... my dealer gave me a very strange look when I took mine to get coded but he at least went with the plan and was astonished when it was up and running!
