Incoming calls w/ no phone installed
#1
Really wanted the bluetooth option, but was told in 11/03 it wasn't yet available. A curious thing happened a couple months ago though, I received an incoming call while driving home from work. I was on my non-bluetooth cellphone at the time.
As expected, it was a wrong number. Does the car have a phone in it that BMW assist only has access to? If so, I wonder if it's possible to get the number from the next person that mistakenly dials so I can receive incoming calls on the speaker phone. Unfortunately, this caller didn't speak English.
Anyone have a similar experience?

There have been similar experiences reported. Sometimes people have hit the assist button and it erroneously dials 911, then you hang up and they call you back. There is a phone on a chip; it might be called a TCU (telecom. control unit) but I'm not sure. Supposedly, it you can get the number they called if it happens again, you then have free incoming calls. I think something may have been done on recently built cars to disable this, but I'm not sure.

Duke, I had the same thing occur to me about a month ago. It was some guy looking the plummer. It wasnt until after I told him that he had the wrong number and he hung up that I realised that I didnt asked him what number he dialed. I live in New York, and would also like to know if anyone else had this experience and if they got a tele number.
