I'm thinking that this may have something to do with different software versions. Because like I said before, that icon is displayed for me only when my phone is paired. Regardless if I have missed calls or not.

Are you sure you're going into the iDrive screen and deleting the missed calls there?

Of course the phone needs to be paired with the car before the icon will display. Think about how up to 4 phones can pair with the car, so the icon needs to associate with the correct phonebook.

Ignoring the phone symbol for the moment, all I get is the little antenna symbol and no signal meter/bars. Which phones are you guys using that iDrive displays the signal level with? It doesn't show signal level with my K800i...

I thought that was the case, but have found Rudy's advice accurate. In this case, RTFM didn't help as it wasn't addressed there. But if you go to the missed calls menu in iDrive, you'll likely find some old calls to clear. If you select one, the popup menu will let you delete all. And once you do, the little handset icon goes away.

Some phones show signal strength, but I would say fewer than half.

I had two SE mobiles here that showed the initial signal strength but never changed (I found this out when I got five bars in my garage, which is a sub cellar level).

One caveat: phones tested with the U.S. TCU won?t have the same features/results as those tested with TCUs from other markets.

Did that earlier, and yes, it went away. *Bows down to Rudy*. Call me stupid, but I liked having the icon, so that I know my Q is connected.

Don't you get a capital T at the bottom of the screen which shows that a phone is paired?

If you like the icon that much, just have someone call you while it's paired and don't answer it. On the communication screen, in the lower left corner, doesn't it show you the name of the device that's paired? (I know, it's not visible on the other screens...)

Oh, and I almost forgot...speaking of icons, no need to "bow down" to me -- it was my pleasure to help you -- but if you feel the need to bow again, feel free to use that icon as well!

I have never seen the T... Why a T? Does the word in German for "Paired" start with a T?
