I guess it doesn't matter if I have the bluetooth symbol on my TCU, the BMW bulletin says all cars built before 03/04 must replace the TCU.. my car was built in 09/03. BTW, which slot is the MIC? the one closest to the driver? if so, I have the mic, and have the phone button on steering wheel, would think i would have bluetooth if there was a symbol on the TCU. guess not.

I have this in my glove box when I bought my car a couple weeks ago. Next week when I do my seat pad recall I'll ask to see if I can turn on my Bluetooth as I cannot get to the phone section currently.

I have a 04 545i with sport suspension. It has a 06/04 build date.

I have the same card in my glovebox as well ... and I cannot get my BT to connect. I would only guess that if they put that card in the glovebox - you'd have it, right? I also have it listed on the iDrive

Great, the dealer was such a pain to deal with, said I had to go install their iPod integration unit 950 to get the MP3 to work,

As for the Blue tooth they said if it does not show on the screen (like yours I assume) I have to call the BMWNA for instructions.

Anyone have the pdf of the cars that will work and will not work?

I had it before but when I need it to show the dealer I cannot find it!

It's so ironic that I have the same card in my glove box and my TCU begins with 84.11 and my vehicle build date is 07/2004. I can't get my phone to connect with the BT either. I have an appointment on the 29th of this month for a recall so while I am there, rest assure, I will ask them every to know about activating the BT.

Try to find any BMW paperwork pertaining to turning on the Bluetooth in your favor for your make and build date bring your card. Actually if you find it post it here too. As a former employee of a dealer, it does not change much from dealer to dealer. The service advisors don't know much to begin with and their knowledge of a 6 year old car is even less. And if you end up with a lazy tech you will end up the creek without a paddle.

Good luck

Maybe this will help gents.

To quote the SIB :

"For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth***174; functionality can be added to most of these vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. After this is performed "Retrofit" of "Tel Bluetooth" needs to be performed. Follow the procedure as described in this Service Information for "Activating Bluetooth" and "Pairing the Handset". Vehicles prior to 3/04 would need to have the TCU replaced with the 2005 MY TCU at the customer's expense and the vehicle updated to CIP 13.2 or higher. Phone docking cradles may not be added to these vehicles because of wiring incompatibility. Note: This software update and retrofit is not covered under warranty and is at the customer's expense."

Would you happen to have the pdf of that SIB?

It would make it easier to print and show the SA.
