The phone will pair with bluetooth, we exchange pin numbers and the name of the phone shows up in the bluetooth menu, but when I go to communicatiobs in idrive, it says activate phone.
I spent about 45 minutes in the car and power cycled the phone and turned my 5 off and on, still no phone.
Does anybody have any thoughts? I have sucessfully paired motorolas and blackberries with this car.
Thanks

I have a Nokia E61 and have succesfully paired. The proces was a little funny as I had to enter my match code twice.
Your issue might be related to the iDrive version or Nokia software. My Nokia E61 is only 5 days old, but my iDrive software has not been updated since the car was build (oct. 2003).
Having the Nokia matched with the car doesn't solve all problems, as almost all functions are failing. Only answering incoming calls (thus have to accept the call twice) and calling via the phone works. All smart features as Phone book, Latest calls etc. doesn't work. Again I think it's related to iDrive version and I will try to get it upgraded.

I doubt our E62s will ever work with BMWs Bluetooth. The phone has to be running Windows Mobile for everything to work. The E62 runs that other operating system, the name of which escapes me now (sybiran??)

I just tried to pair my Nokia E62 to my 200 525xi. The phone paired just fine - but, iDrive asked me to activate the phone and it went downhill after that. Net-net, this phone does not appear to be compatible with iDrive. I'm going to send it back for a Blackberry 8700!!!
