Surely this cannot be right. I have business Sat NAv and i-drive on a 525i se 05 plate. Is there a more economical way of getting this sorted?

Thanks in advance for any pointers or assistance. I am new to the site.. what a great find!

If your car is an 2005 production all you should need is a software update for it to work.

Mine is a March 05. The dealer tells me that the car is not equipped and that they have to remove the roof lining. The reckon its a 7hr job and that one of the parts alone is ?500. I have the i-drive and the phone button on the steering wheel. I am really hacked off about it.

Welcome to the forums!

If you haven't done so already, search through the Bluetooth forum here and arm yourself with some more knowledge about this issue. In addition to many posts from people that have successfully retrofitted BT on their cars, there is a service bulletin from BMW posted a bunch of times that explains things pretty clearly.

If you have more questions after reading the bulletin, etc., we're here to help...

I got told the same thing today. BMW thought it was a dodge TCU, but later told me that I have the #638 PRofesssional Telephone - Dual option which means that even though it has BT on the iDrive, there is nothing that can be done to use my phone.

?2000 is cheap.. I was quoted ?2500!!!!! What a pain in the ar5e!!!

Anyone know if its easy to pull out the cable of the CPT9000 on the TCU?

Ive got the same challenge (with a e60 June/2004 bought this week (Father Day in Australia)), but I dont get any Blutooth menu appearing in the idrive, so no way to get any form of bluetooth sync/connection. BMW Australia may have turned it off, so as to get customers paying for expensive upgrades.

Ive gone thru the secret menu system ( to find that I have CIP 19.0 - I-05-09-510_050509 details) based on the Forum having a most excellent discussion threat ( most grateful), now do need to pull the Boot left side interior off to see what the serial number of the TCU is ?

If it is post Mar2004 model car( which I drive), and their a possible SOFTWARE upgrade, is it really a $2000 software upgrade to enable Bluetooth. If it is, I will not be impressed.

My 1st step is to check that the TCU is of some form of currency and is not out of date/redundant - forlklift upgrade, so I dont get snowed. I want to be well armed when I visit the Sydney BMW dealership and get hard answers on a realistic price to get bluetooth enabled, else its the wireless headset for me.

Many thanks for your possible assistance.
PS. What a great ride Ive had in the 1st week, amazing, a real joy to sit behind the wheel of a 5 Series.
