In the never ending story of Bluetooth compatibility for the new E60
I thought I'd share the below. Note: This is AFTER I purchased (then returned) a Nokia 6230.
- My Car = 2005 E60 w/build date of 9/04
- Told by dealer prod. date was too early to have Bluetooth
- Dealer WRONG = all 2005 E60 from 9/04 are Bluetooth enabled
- No additional software "update" required
- Nokia 6230 = paired but BMW acted only as a giant "speaker phone"
- 6230 = not integrated w/iDrive screen or steering wheel buttons
- Sony Ericsson T637 = FULLY compatible
- Paired in less than 30 seconds
- Integrated w/iDrive, steering wheel, stereo, mute, etc. FULLY
- No need to take to dealer for pairing or assistance
- Total cost = $109 for T637 w/ $70 rebate. Total exp. after = $39
- ZERO extra cost to have dealer "pair" phone w/car
I did have to switch from Verizon to Cingular - frankly I don't care since you can "port" numbers now. Cingular/AT&T = only provider offering Sony Ericsson T610, T616, T630 & T637 all of which are listed by BMW as being "compatible". The only down side = had to sign a 2yr contract w/Cingular (was not under contract w/Verizon).
Next quest = seeing if the BMW T616 cradle can accomodate the T637. If so I'm set! If not... I'm still happy!
Cheers for now then!

I am seeing two part numbers for under your phone. I am not sure, which one is whci but you might want to check with your dealer for correct part number.

My Ride: MY 2004 545i; April build; 6 speed; silver grey metalic; black leather; poplar; sport package; cold weather; active steering; xenons .
I have an E60 6 speed produced in May 2004. What do I need to get in order to use a Bluetooth compatible phone in my car and how much should I expect to pay for parts and labor?

Sadly I can't answer that... Search the forums - this is where/how I was able to find out about my Bluetooth compatibility. It appears (according to what I've found on the forums) that if your E60 is a 2004 model year you need to have a special kit and software upgrade - cost somewhere between $350-$500 plus labor...
Hope this helps?
Cheers!
