Cheap ($10) E60 bluetooth audio streaming option
I wanted to share my bluetooth audio success story for those interested:
Car - 2010 E60 528xi non-nav with USB and AUX inputs in center console
Phone - iPhone 5s
Device purchased -
The phone is paired with the car for calls so I was looking for a way to stream music through bluetooth. This bluetooth adapter is powered by the USB and then feeds the music to the factory radio through the AUX plug. I cannot control song selection from the steering wheel buttons nor does anything show up in iDrive. So I have to change tracks on the phone itself which isn't a problem for me because I don't change them often.
The sound quality is good, so far it has paired quickly when I start the car and it streams music just fine regardless of the source on my phone. Incoming calls stop the music and are answered through the pairing of the phone with the car. This makes the phone related steering wheel buttons active. The music resumes when the call is ended.
I've only had it a short time but am happy with it so far, will update this if anything changes.

I'm guessing the USB only powers the device and does nothing else though the USB port. The audio comes out the stereo plug. This should work on any car, not just LCI, that has an Aux input. If you don't have a built in USB port in your car, you'll need a 9V USB adapter.
I have the Blackberry Music Gateway and it is essentially the same thing, except with an micro USB port. Works fine in my 2006 BMW with the Aux input.

Yeah, I actually have something similar myself that I use... the Griffin BlueTrip. It doesn't need the USB -- which I don't have -- but instead plugs directly into the rear cigarette lighter socket, which is where the Aux port is on my car anyway.

The Tune2Air products get great reviews and I'll probably buy this latest model if my $10 option doesn't pan out. At this time the controls through iDrive are not worth an additional $80 to me but if my cheap alternative begins to drop the connection I'll scoop up the Tune2Air for sure.
The Tune2Air picking up the song where you left off when you enter the car the next time is a nice feature too that my cheap alternative doesn't do.

Ahhh, yes, THIS is what I was referring to in my previous post. (I did see your earlier post and confused you with the OP of this thread.) Looks like a great solution for LCI cars.

Glad I found this thread because I was trying to connect my smart phones Bluetooth to my car, '04 base 525i, without success. Am I screwed or do I need a kit or a code??
