I recently did a CPT9000 retro-fit on my 2/04 build 530i. (Found a CPT9000 on ebay, cheap!) I really like the functionality, but the call volume (what I'm hearing) seems a little low. I started a thread on that issue, but didn't get any responses, probably because most of you have bluetooth.

I'm now looking at springing for the BTUM, partly for the convenience, partly because I like gadgets! So, I'm wondering for those of you who have gone that route what your experiences have been?

I know that once you get into the Bluetooth world, things get highly phone dependent. But, have there seemed to be any problems with it working in general? Work as advertised? How does the incoming call volume sound? (vs. CPT9000 if you had it --- I can live with the CPT9000 volume if I have to, just wouldn't want it to get any worse!!)

Thanks.

CarlK920,

I recently had my car retrofitited for the CTP-9000 so I can have BT with the BTUM. I'm happy with how it works. The volume is good, people can hear me just fine. I'm connecting to a Verizon Razr phone. I recommend BTUM.

The only problem I have is trying to figure out how to answer call-waiting calls.

Good Luck

I have a SE T637. I end my first call be pressing the telephone control button on the steering wheel which then engages the second call. I have not been able to find a way to keep the first call on hold while I answer the second.

The trick to using call waiting is to use the handset to activate the second call just like you would if you weren't connected to the car. One of these days, there may be a way to use iDrive to flip flop between calls but as of now, I don't think there's a way...

Not to sound smart, but have you turned up the volume using the steering wheel controls or the volume knob beside the CD track selector?

Yes, I have turned up the volume using the steering wheel controls, the volume knob and the phone itself (both before and during a call). All of these things do change the volume. It's just that the highest setting is still lower than I'd like. I'll admit that my hearing isn't the best, but my 16 year old daughter has agreed that it's fairly low. And, it is significantly lower than the "voice command" voice, i.e., the "please say a command", etc. With the volume up, that "voice" is very loud, then when the call is ringing/connects the volume is noticeably lower.

Try turning the volume up on the phone itself. I have the opposite problem, I have to turn the cell phone volume down because it can be too loud in the vehicle.
