My E60 is a 4/04 build and I've been using CPT9000 with no problems for over two years. Now, Cingular has informed me that TDMA is on the endangered species list and is due for extinction by March 2008. Since I already have a Moto V557 GSM phone for my overseas travel, I guess its time to take the plunge. What has kept me from switching to BT is the lack of a cradle for the pre-08/04 cars. I really like the in-car charging and the external antenna connection.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this yet? I figure if anyone has it will be on this forum. Motorola sells the exact same charger for both the V550 series and the V60 series. This can't be too hard, can it?

Speaking from experience, I do not believe it is possible to retrofit a charging cradle for a BT phone into an early production (04) E60. My E60 was a March 04 production and my service tech tried everything possible. The vehicle wiring is set up for a CPT 9000 phone only. I resigned myself to getting a car charger for my phone that plugged into the cig lighter.

You are correct. E60s with a production date between 3/2004 and 8/2004 will support BT with only a software upgrade (no TCU replacement needed) but cannot support a docking cradle due to wiring incompatibilities.

That's what the BT service bulletin from 3/2005 says and it looks like your dealer has pretty much confirmed it...
