Hi All,
For those of you, like me, with an early E60, we now can plug in a Motorola adapter to our cradle and have BT service on our newer phones (list included).

See Below.

See my posted answer over on the main board, but you'll need a cradle, software adjusted, and of course, an applicable new phone from the list on page 3. About $500 + phone.

I still don't get the main purpose of this add-on. I have a 10/03 build E60. My car does not have BT at all.
I do have a CPT9000 Cingular GSM phone working and installed thru the I-Drive. Will this thing work for me?

I would love to have Nav Pro & Bluetooth installed is it at all possible?

Here is my VIN: B173342
Production Date: 10/03

Nav is available as a retrofit through your dealer. I had mine installed some time ago for $1800, not sure what the price is now. Give your dealer, or BMWNA a call and give them your VIN# as there is an option that had to be installed at the factory to enable a NAV retrofit. It think it is 6UA??? As far as the Bluetooth, if you already have the CPT 9000 installed, all you need is the adaptor, when available, and a compatible phone from the attachment Ray provided and you should be good to go.

I do not have the 6UA option... i know with the 6UA option I can have NAV installed for $1800. From what I understand my car has the M(ASK) computer since it is a 9/03 production. One of the first to come out.

I would like to know if there's any dealer in California, Arizona or Nevada that will change out my M(ASK) -> CCC and install the factory navigation. I know it's a lot of work running a long wire behind the dash board etc. I'm willing to pay up to $3K if it could be done. Anything more is not worth it.
If there are custom installers in southern california that will do a clean flush job in installing an aftermarket one i will do it too. i just want a factory look as much as possible. With an aftermarket one they would probably have to utilize this kit from www.TVandNav2Go.com so they could hook-up a navigation to my i-drive screen (CID Central Information Display it's now called).

The purpose of the add on is to integrate a new BT phone into your idrive/dashboard system. You need the old cradle to plug this adapter into and a new phone, and a visit to the dealer to install and update idrive. I'm told cradle is about $250 and this is $295, so plan on a $500 upgrade cost.

It has nothing to do with Nav.

Cheers,

Hi Ray,
Yes I know it has nothing to do with NAV. I already have the CPT9000 cradle working in my car. I've been using a BMW CPT9000 Verizon & BMW CPT 9000 Cingular GSM phone in the cradle for quite some time now. Works pretty good. Will I still need to take my car in for additional programming if I purchase this BT Upgrade CPT9000 Kit?
I would like to order the item.. have it shipped to me without having to go to the dealer.

I figure that i don't have to make a visit to my dealer since i already have a cpt9000 cradle working in my car... if additional programming is needed then what a hassle. programming for everything.

I'm not 100% sure but it's likely that no additonal programming is needed. I'm betting that the adapter simply emulates the Motorola V60 (CPT9000) so the car just thinks it has that connected to it. You probably just pair the new BT phone to the adapter using some fixed code and bingo, the car "sees" the BT phone as a CPT9000.

Again, I don't know for sure but it makes the most sense to do it this way since then the same part can be used with any of the cars that the CPT9000 worked with. Now if you don't already have the CPT9000 installed, you might have to incur the additional expense of that install and programming...

Hmmm... this seems very cool. What's the part number for the cradle? I'm thinking I may want to do this!
