Does all e60 get standard bluetooth capability in the car?? I was reading some thread on this forum yesterday and JUSt found out about the feature. What can I say, I LOvE IT!! I think that puts BMW ahead of other competitors. However, I tried to do it on my friend's fully loaded '04 530 and if doesnt seem to have it. Is it restricted only to the 545 or 05 models only??

Don't know about prior years (seems to be some difference of opinion on these boards) but for sure all 06 e60's have bluetooth. Piece of cake to activate and pair, and I love it!

It is available and can be activated in all cars built after mid March 04 (production prior to September 04 will require a software activation and possibly a software update to CIP13.3 or above).

Toyota had bluetooth in the Prius before BMW had it, I'm pretty sure. But yes, it's a great feature and I think it's now become a to-be-expected feature of any high-tech car at any price.

True in US, still an option in Europe. I don't know in other continents.

Here are the categories:
E60 produced pre-March 2004, it needs a new TCU and BT software retrofit programming. Cost = new TCU + SW programming (2 hours)
E60 produced between March 2004 to September 2004, no new TCU needed, just need BT software retrofit programming. Cost = SW programming (1 to 2 hours)
E60 produced from/after September 2004, BT is standard
