Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that I was able to retrofit my car with bluetooth.

I bought a newer TCU (Used) from a forum member, I believe it was Luke from BMW. He sells parts randomly from time to time.

Anyway, I installed it, went to the dealer and had the software installed. It took a while. I went twice, first day 5 hours, and the comp / system kept crashing.

I went back today at 7am (that is when they open) and they finished at 11:30am. They charged me with 1 1/2 hour of labor /programming.


I also bought a new mic from bimmernav.com and I plan on getting the foam piece to put uptop so the wind does not interfere with the mic.


Everything works great and I have an Iphone 3G.


Now my next DIY.. make a Dock for my iphone 3g with my Integrated ipod cable for the idrive. (I was able to get it to charge by buying an adapter).

Congrats I just got my retrofitted TCU coded yesterday and I'm loving it already, no more BT earpiece.

Sorry for the reply after many years, but do you had a TCU previously installed? I'm looking to put bluetooth on my 530 but I only have phone prep SA640A No BMW Assist, Nav or anything else.
