I have a Bmw e60 525d with Motorola phone already fitted and I want to use my own mobile phone not swap sim card everytime I get in the car ( I live in Romania and 2 sim cards with the same number isn't available ) so I tried to set up my phone via bluetooth , all nice car pairs with the phone , the phone is displayed on the phones list but after that I can't do anything ... the phone doesn't connect when I enter the car and swhich the ing on , nothing happens .. Am I doing something wrong durring the pairing process ?? Thank for your time !

If the phone is pairing - and if you see the phone on the phone list it means it has paired - it is possible the phone is not compatible. Try using a known compatible phone (borrow from a friend?) and see if it works.

Please report back and we'll try to sort this out.

Does the hard wired BMW phone work? If so, the dealer has to deactivate that one first. You can't have the CPT-9000 and Bluetooth active at the same time. It's either one or the other. Trust me, I found this out the hard way a few years ago...

If the hard-wired phone works with a SIM, then, as I said before, the dealer has to de-program it and double-check that the BT interface is fully activated...

Depending on the dealer, you may have to do more than just "tell him about the BT problem," you may have to explain everything we posted here too. You'd be surprised how many dealers are clueless about some of this stuff...

Let us know how you get on. I'm going to do the same and I reckon they'll use the old chestnut "iDrive software Upgrade" which they'll ultimately charge for. Got my car on Sat..... not satisfied with the prep so its going back. Quality control?? I dont think they've heard of it. Scratches everywhere. Not only that the leather was scuffed... they made it worse!

Anyway they did apologies and offered to pay for 1/2 a tank. Brilliant as I need to take 2 cars and will probably use 1/2 a tank it total anyway!

Back to the point. I'm gonig to try and get them to sort it for free. Surely if it pairs then it should be able to use the features, otherwise whats the point? (Its a Blackberry Pearl)

Are there any potential problems when you perform a software update ? A member from a romanian forum who went to the same dealer where I'm planing to take my car also , and they told him that the process could fry up (burn ) the car's computer and they told him that in order to perform it he should sign a disclaimer that he assumes the potential damages , and it seems to be something related to the fact that the car is '04 build .. Any opinions ??
