Is this remotely possible?

BMW of NA says the newest software is not supported and I need to downgrade to the initial one.

The funny thing is, I did the blackberry upgrade 6 months ago (with the phone already paired and working fine) and there were no issues at all. The other day I disabled bluetooth in my phone for a few days and today I enabled it back and it just won't pair. I followed the standard procedure of using the same passcode for both devices, etc. No success.

That's why I called BMW of NA and they gave me that explanation. I'll go ahead and downgrade my phone, but does this make any sense to anyone in the forum?

have you tried clearing your BB from the paired phone list, as well as a battery pull for your BB?

I agree that it doesn't make much sense.

What version of the BB OS are you running? I've been running 4.6.0.304 on my Bold for some time now with no BT/BMW related issues...

UPDATE: I finished downgrading the software as they recommended, and not to my surprise, it didn't work.

This reinforces my belief that most people don't know what they talk about, nor what they do, not the BMW of NA "experts", not the Alpine "trained professionals" from the stereo shop, not the BMW dealers "technicians", nobody!

You talking about the desktop manager software version or the BB?

My desktop version is 5.0.1.28 and I thought my BB was also running the "latest" (which I thought was a 5.x) but when I go to Settings|Options|About, it says I'm running v4.6.0.304. There's so many crazy versions listed for so many things I'm never sure what's going on.

I just did a quick Google and I just realized there may be something newer (5.x) that I can install. I might take the plunge right now and see what happens. (My luck my BT will break tomorrow morning! )

referring to both DM and device OS.

5.0x threaded sms features are great as well and bbm 5.0

I've been running 5.0x for almost 1 yr now without issue (knocking on wood)

delete the pairing from both the phone and the car, and try again. remember, once you do the pairing you have to exit that pairing menu for the phone to actually connect to the car. make sure and set the car's pairing to Trusted in the blackberry's bluetooth options.

Well yes, but once I enter the code in the phone the car asks me to add the device, to which I answer yes and proceed to enter the same code, and soon as I finish entering the code in the idrive and press enter, the phone gives me the message "Connection with BMW... failed, try again?" So the two never actually connect.

you sure you're typing the code in right on the car? you need to click up once you've entered the final number and then turn to the right to select the option to accept it, if I remember correctly. the last digit is a little tricky.
