My BT connection was setup successfully yesterday. I must say that the system impressed me in general and I am very pleased
I asked my dealer and he told me that he had to install software ver. 16.2 to be able to link up the BT in MY 2004(may) E60.

Anyway great stuff

16.2 has to be out. If you look at E61 forum under "I just got my baby" or something like that. There's a black E61 with an interior shot. He has the 3D NAV!

My Ride: 525i, Orient Blue, bought used with 22000 miles. Grey lether, sport package, BMW Assist, Cold Weather package. Xenons. NOT premium for some reason, I do like the metal finish vs. the wood, but do miss the garage opener.

Do you have a pre-March 2004 car? I have a car built in Nov 2003 and the dealer tells me that the latest software will make the Bluetooth work on my car. I am not sure I beleive him. Dealer is clueless usually.

That would be great if they can now do BT in the early production cars.

Also, what does it look like on the menu? How does it change your iDrive? Does it add an option for "blue tooth" or what?

I am using both Siemens S65 and a Sony Ericcson T630 for tests on my bluetooth set and am in the opinion that SE T630 should snatch the prize

The SE P910i works only intermittently. I however still love the P910i and am keeping it till a s/w upgrade is available to enable it to work with the BT system. I guess it is the most feature rich phone and it would be a waste to set it aside altogether.

Have also sucessfully paired a Nokia 7610 but phone book does not get over, incoming and outgoing call is crisp.

For all the phones that I have tried, SMS function did not work. Heard that only BMW installed CPT9000 is bale to do it, please correct me if I am wrong.

I'm sorry to report your dealer is wrong. I too have a 09/03 build and the only way to get BT to work is with a new TCU. Click my signature for the details. As for the menu, yes, once you have a new TCU and software update a host of new BT options appear in the iDrive screen.
