My Ride: '08 550i, carbon black, sport package
11/03 build and I too feel the pain. If BMW really cares, it can't be that tough of a problem to fix. At the very least give us the option to remove the TCU and replace with a bluetooth only module similar to what X5 owners have been able to do! As I recall that was only a $400-$500 solution.

The CPT9000 is an abacuss thrust by BMW upon customers living in the computer age. This technology was obsolete at the time BMW was delivering it (as Motorola already had ceased much v60 production) and now support for this antiquated technology is almost nil.
BMW could offer its customers the option of disabling BMW Assist and employing Bluetooth, but it would appear that their corporate greed for Assist subscription dollars takes precedence over serving their customers safety, personal, and business needs.
