In my country, it is an offence to hold on to your mobile phone as you drive! And nope, it need not be held near or on the ear - just holding it is good even to earn you demerit points and a fine - BT is definitely the answer then. The local agent hasn't figured out how to retro-fit one although quite some owners have phone prep (option #640).

Visorcom is excellent, and the BMW bluetooth solution is pretty poor. At present there are only about 4 phones available that work with BMW BT. Quality is less than good too. Don't waste money on BMW BT.

Not true for me because it works great in my car with the siemens S55. In the other thread I also gave my opinion. This is one of the best options I chose and I have no problems with it whatsoever. Soundquality is great. People can hear me perfectly (so microphone works perfect). It is so well intergrated with the car that I don't notice any difference then with my 330 bmwcarphone.

A must have option I say.

It's amust have for me as well - even with my trusty old Nokia 6310i. I may be a gadget-friendly but the features of the newer phones haven't grabbed me yet, but the phone-car integration is a killer app for me.

Sound quality is good and the voice activation is genuinely useful.

I'd go for it again as a factory fit option.

Have anyone tried pairing up Sony Ericcson's latest K700i ? Or Nokia's 1 megapixel camera phone N7610 ?

These latest mobile looks great and have cool features and I am thinking of getting them prior to BT retrofit.

Would appreciate any feedback. TIA

I have bluetooth in my 530d. Paid 800 EUR for it and i think i will never pay 1000 Pounds for it.
It works, but it's not perfect, far from that. The sound quality could be much better. I have a SE T610 and it works good, tried yesterday to pair a Nokia 6600 and it wasn't possible. I'm thinking of getting a new SE or NOKIA but only when i'm sure of full compatibility
