I decided to see whether bleu tooth is at all on the horizon for the E60 in the US and found out that it is. A long time friend of mine who is an electrical engineer and works with blue tooth with Mercedes-Benz found out the answer for me. The company he works for was also working on the telematics/blue tooth problem on the E60. This is not his department, but he did out find this info from his coworkers who did work on this problem.
The blue tooth compatibility problem with the US telematics has been resolved and the system has been released to BMW.
Of course this says nothing as to when the system will be released and installed by BWM into the E60.
