2004 545i Bluetooth
First of all thanks to all who posted information - it provided me with the details to get BT enabled on my 2004 545i - build date 05/04.
I just got my car back from a local indy shop - BT enabled, phonebook is on the iDrive - and my BB Z10 works great with the car's system.
Here's the summary:
- TCU unit build date 23.04.2004 - #84.11 6948921-01
- car option 639 on the car = complete prep cellular phone USA/CAN
- SIB 84 13 04 paragraph 4 states BT functionality can be added to "most" vehicels built 03/04 to 08/04 - most BMW service advisors have no idea about this or can't be bothered
- SIB 84 14 05 provides a few more details on the retrofit - re: upgrading the vehicle software
3 local dealers in the GTA gave me excuses for not doing it ranging from it can't be done the car was too early a build, and this was after they ran my VIN through their BMW system - other excuses were the update could cause other computer problems in the car - an interesting reason since the BMW Canada site advises its good to upgrade your software to get the most out of your BMW
1 dealer said they could try - at $165 per hour minimum 3 hour charge
I would recommend indy shop MB Master in Ajax - my all in price on this was $200
good luck to all
