My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
See attached press release. BMW Canada announced that all 2006 BMW models from September 2005 production equipped with BMW Assist (Bluetooth? technology) are now capable of full address book integration with the BlackBerry? 8700 Series? from Research In Motion (RIM). The integration with BMW vehicles provides customers with the ability to pair their BlackBerry device with their BMW, download the address book and place calls through on-board vehicle controls or voice-activation. BMW is the first automaker to provide BlackBerry users the additional address book pairing capability and Canadian BMW owners become the first in the world to benefit from this functionality.
Can the US be far behind, well perhaps

The US will be lucky (or unlucky if you share my views) if it simply has Blackberry service, let alone stuff like this...

My Ride: X3 | 3.0 | 6-speed manual
With a recent upgrade to version 20, I now finally have limited functionality with my Blackberry 7290. I can dial and receive calls, and use the "Redial" list. That's a good start!

My Ride: F11 520d Imperialblue - HK Sound - Panorama Roof - High Executive
I'm in Europe - Netherlands and have an evaluation model of the 8700.
It works perfectly!
So I think BMW didnot do anything special in Canada to make this work? It's the BlackBerry that is now able of pushing its address book to a carkit......just my thoughts.......
If BMW would make a cradle for this smartphone, that would be great news!
Good sound quality, same as my Nokia, much better than my standard 7290.
Address book synchronisation works perfectly.
You can choose between sync'ing your address book or a hotlist where the hotlist is your recent used numbers or your call log (didn't found out exactly).
Address book syncs multiple numbers, visible in your iDrive like this (where my name is Eric Vanholland):
Eric - Work Vanholland 999-999999
Eric - Mobile Vanholland 999-999999
Not for this BMW forum, but this blackberry device is really a big step forward........

Upgraded my Nextel 7520 Blackberry to 4.1 and the phonebook now syncs.

Anybody on Nextel and tried PPT with 4.1? Mine chirps on the phone but the voices dont come out from neither the car nor the phone... Better than with 4.0 since at that time it would not chirp...
