you're still using BT with the cradle, the only real advantage is neatness. All the cradle does is charge the phone and hold it in place. You don't need a cig. lighter car charger for your phone anymore, and it gives you the perfect spot to put it. The *ONLY* thing I miss from my pre-nav days is that little cubby hole below the radio, because that's where my phone used to go. the cradle gives me a perfect place to put it.
In theory, there's also an antenna loop to "boost" the cell signal, but not convinced that works all that well.

i'm scared that if i wear the phone on a belt holster and get in a crash, the seat belt will make sure that my BB gets implanted in my hip!
Seriously, where do I get the Curve 8900 cradle? I just got the phone last week. Sorry, I don't check this thread much. Thanks.

keep us posted when it arrives, I'm itching to order it but want to make sure. Meanwhile, I've got an 8300 cradle for sale.
545felix, I have a couple of questions for you;
First, do you still have your 8300 cradle?
Last thing;
I just got a 545i 2004 manufactured on 06/04. I checked the TCU and has no white sticker (just bare metal like some of the pics in this forum). I am going to confirm with the dealer if it is BT capable or not. The car has a cradle under the armrest for the BMW phone it came with then I guess.
The question is, if my dealership confirms that my TCU is NOT BT capable, would the cradle you have work to connect the phone like back then (i.e. not through bluetooth but through wire)? The existing (the old one) cradle is there wired up.
I'm trying to get an idea of what my options are, other than replacing my TCU, if they confirm it is not BT capable. I would hate to not be able to use the internal mike and speakers for the phone... replacing the TCU is expensive...
Thanks very much in advanced.

I still have the 8300 cradle; however, all it does it charge and hold the phone in place. your car *SHOULD* be bluetooth capable if you get a software update, from what I understand E60s made from 03/04 to 09/04 that have Assist have the correct module, but just need reprogramming. Check in the FAQ section to make sure.
You were right. Called a lot of dealers and finally found somebody that knew what I was talking about. I actually just picked up the car. They did the software update and enabled the bluetooth. They charged me 3 hours of labor plus a 60 dollar charge; it came down to like 480 dollars; expensive, but got it done.
Thanks again.
