Hi Everyone

I have the following, a March build 2004 E60 545i with the Motorola BT factory phone with SIM card, it works perfectly.

OK

I wish to pair my Blackberry 8830, it pairs quickly and every time I try, I bring it to the top ("move phone up") in the i-drive menu, get nice blue flashes noting the BT has communicated, then nothing.

All I wish to do is make and receive calls using the integrated handsfree (which works so perfectly with the in built phone). The system readily lets me pair the phone, but I cant get it to go? (phone is set with encryption off, discoverable - yes)

I the idea I guess is to let different drivers have the benefit of the handsfree kit? It lets me pair it, but I cant get any further!

Will this go or am I dreaming - my car is too old?

+++++++++++++++++

Note I have tried in no particular order

- Had the main dealer upgrade the i-drive SW to the latest available for my car (totally changed the look and feel of the SW)
(After this up grade I got different messages on the idrive BT screens including a reference to preparation code B361155 on the i-drive screen in relation to the help page on the web - couldn't find this anywhere on the BMW site, or Google?)
- Over the two years I have had the car I have tried several different phones incl the Sony-Ericson K750i which in reading these posts works well.
- So on to the Blackberry (I know its an oldish model) however it managed to indentify the BMW offered a "phone access server" via the BT which was a whole lot closer than the K750i (no services), a Samsung I had "USB interface" - weird?
- Got a BMW specialist to unplug the factory phone, this didn't help
- Removed SIM from BMW phone, cant get anywhere i-drive says "insert SIM"
- Searched the BlackBerry site for handsfree - doesn't seam to be a setting for this on my phone, beyond ticking the box in the BT settings?

unfortunately I don't have any experience with the kit that includes a factory phone, only the US ones that have bluetooth and no built-in phone. but i would recommend updating the software on the 8830 to the most recent available (dig around at www.crackberry.com for it) and making sure that your contact list doesn't include any "odd" characters (ie entries with symbols @#$%^&*(), etc. )

in the bluetooth options on the phone, scroll down to the car (mine says BMWxxxxxx which is the last few numbers of my vin) and hit the menu key. select device properties. make sure the device is trusted. close that menu. press the menu key again, select options. make sure "allow outgoing calls" is set to always, and that all the services are selected. save and close that menu.

on the car side, if it's pairing, all should be OK, but again, i'm not sure what that bluetooth module you have as opposed to the US one has as far as configuration options.

good luck!
