I have an '08 550i coming, and searched around for a snap-in adapter so as to cradle the phone for both charging and use of the external antenna.

I found an adapter from bmwgenuineparts.co.uk that accepts the Blackberry 8100. I can't see there is any difference that would matter for a snap-in adapter between the 8100 and the 8130. I have it on order.

Has anyone tried this adapter?

Thanks,

Cal

Cal, you may or may not have a problem. The USB port on an 8100 is approx. 1/4"-3/8" closer to the top of the phone than the USB port on an 8130. I'm not sure how the plug works on the adapter as I have never seen the interior of the adapter. Depending on how the USB plug is fixed to the snap-in adapter, the plug might not line up with the mini USB port on your phone. If there is a corded plug or the plug is able to be moved inside the snap-in adapter to plug into the mini USB port you should be fine. If the plug is fixed you might have some problems. Let me know what you find out. I have an 8130 as well.

Just installed my Blackberry 8130 adapter today - works great. Have to say I can't tell much difference in signal strength, so not sure the antenna connection helps much, but it charges just fine (uses the contacts on the back of the 8130, not the USB connection). Some would say it's an expensive car charger, but it sure looks nice...

Thanks.... did you get the adapter from bmwgenuineparts.co.uk? Model: 84 21 0 439 151? Thanks, looks very good. I know some claim benefit of the external antenna, some do not. Seems like a few Verizon customers around here say so.

Interesting. I would have thought it connected via USB. Good to know, thanks!

Got mine from BimmerNav. That's the right model #.

Be aware that you need 3 separate parts - the Blackberry snap-in, the generic "eject box" that comes with the cables, and another adapter to attach everything to the E60. There's a nice description of all 3 on the BimmerNav web site here: http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_new_Bluetooth...structions.html. You just need the "eject cradle retrofit", not the whole bluetooth system pictured there.
