I thought it would be a good idea to have bluetooth retro fitted to my 05 530i so i jumped on the phone to get a price from my local dealer and they quoted me AUD 2400.00 to supply and fit. This was a AUD 500.00 option when new however i am the second owner and therefore didn't spec the car....unfortunately. To me this seems way over the odds, there is only one dealer locally thefrefore i can't really shop it around but i would be very interested to know if any other Aussies have had this fitted and what their local stealership charged them???

Not on an E60. Did it on my E53 X5 3 years ago. Cost was $1500 or thereabouts, but that added full voice and included the snap in adapter as well. In theory the E53 install should be a bigger job than the current E60. Try haggling!

Thanks or the reply raepart, that sounds more like the price i was expecting. Unfortnately there is only one BMW dealer here in Adelaide and they dont seem to understand the concept of haggling. They seem to think they can charge what ever they like....which with no compitition is exactly what they do in my experience.
I was hoping someone on the forum has had the retro fit done recently at another dealer at a more reasonable price so i could politley tell them so.

I have driven there many times, it is a bit on the boring side from Adelaide IMO pretty well straight roads with not much to look at. Good idea i will give them a call and get a quote, i am actually heading over to Melbourne on Friday for the AFL grand final but the 5ER is staying at home (QANTAS is driving) otherwise i may have been able to kill two birds with one stone.

Do you have a BMW dealer in Tassie or did you have to travel to Melbourne to buy your car?

Just picked up my car from the dealer, having Xenon fogs fitted, whilst there I saw 4 new M3's being prepped for a media drive on the Targa Tasmania Course!!!

We have Hobart Autohaus and Launceston Autohaus. Great people to deal with.

Hi to the Adelaide e60 toothless member.

We have the same problem here in Sydney when it comes to retrofit of TCU in the 04-e60, they want $2K for the retrofit, where the car is already cabled ( they call this Bluetooth prep'd) and the unit needs to go in the boot.

So two BMW Sydney dealerships both quoted 2 grand for the upgrade, so Im sticking to the bluetooth headset which I have and leaving that issue alone. Ive spent enough time investigating and coming to the same conclusion - Stealerships are a joke and there's no simple way around it, not even a wreckers yard would be beneficial, as the TCUs are paired with the car at time of install.

All very tricky and just too hard and too much $$$'s for the value which U would gain from Bluetooth and voice command.
So lets enjoy the car without the iDRIVE bluetooth function and move on to something more important.

Augustrain2004 ( now owned the preloved car for 4 weeks), 2004, e60, out of warranty but in great condition.

I beleive my car is all set up for it being an 05 model.....it really pissed me off because it would be a great function to have but over 2K is just an insult. I love the car and it has ever option i could want or need apart from bluetooth, i find it hard to beleive when someone is specing a AUD120K car they would not spend AUD 500.00 for Bluetooth. Anyway sorry for the rant...maybe i will have to stake out the workshop and proposition one of the technicans when they are leaving with some cold hard cash
