the salesman was trying to tell me that they can attatch some small adapter to make any cell phone bluetooth - it can work with headset and should work with car
could that be true??? i'm very skeptical

Telephones have software on them, called firmware, that enables the Bluetooth. That only works if the phone was "Qualified" to begin with, by the Bluetooth SIG. The Motorola V710 was Qualified, but not Enabled until recently.

[/quote]I think his dealer was refering to a BT attachment on your phone like this one:

not the computer type. Still won't work with the car though.

My Ride: 2004 BMW 545i, Olivin Green, w/Sports Package, basic stereo, chrome wheels, tinted windows, Bluetooth enabled with Moto V710 (Verizon), Sirius Sat Radio (aftermarket), Auxiliary Input for Ipod.
My Moto V710 (Verizon) works great as a stand alone phone. The sound quality is excellent. It's probably the best handheld i've ever had.
I was able to pair my phone with the I-Drive. I love it. Using the car stereo as a phone, the sound quality at my end is loud and relatively clear. The people at the receving end can hear me but does hear an echo.
I really like the the fact that my phone book transfers over to the Idrive and I can also use the voice commands to dial. Plus I can use the Idrive to go through my 250+ names rather than scrolling through my phone while I'm driving. The letters/numbers a larger on the Idrive and easier to read. Idon't have to mess with small buttons on the phone.
I also like the fact that I can keep the phone in my pocket, briefcase, etc and still make and receive calls. I won't miss that important call if i'm playng my stereo too loud either.
There are some BT features that Verizon disabled on the phone which annoys me. I can't use my Palm T3 with the phone(verizon only).
