Placed order yesterday. Thanks to all who have helped with the many choices along the way. I got Sport, Sound, Cold, Nav, HUD, Comfort, Sirius, Sapphire black/black dakota and Anthracite. Probably going to pick it up in South Carolina (220 miles away) and do the driving school thing.

Starting to think of phones. I am SURE that bluetooth should be working fine since this will be a MY05 ... so I wanted to know if anyone has tried a v710 with the e60? It appears to be a limited bluetooth phone but works in the Acura TL. I am not expecting it to work but it would be nice....

Otherwise it is a cradle (at $150 plus an hour or 2 of labor) and a v60?

Thanks again

I'm personally not sure in regards to MY2005's and Bluetooth any longer. I think it still won't will be available. If it was, it would be listed in the option sheets and other media. I doubt it'll be something thats standard. I'm hoping for the best but the signs so far are not very bright.

.. and then we have to pray it works with the only bluetooth phone offered by Verizon, the v710. It all looks to be like a long shot. [for now]

There has been a lot of talk that it is standard for MY2005.

I'm not too sure ... the last I've heard is that the "pre-wiring" might be there however it'll be a dealer installed option after taking delivery. If its available at all. Bah! I hope they fix this and we get some concrete answers soon!

I contacted BMWNA and they told me that 2005 will have bluetooth working. For 2004 owners, a retrofit may (may!) be available in october

Did they happen to tell you with which phones it will be compatible with? I think they done even bother to check on these things and just give answers just to get people off their backs for features that should be working and are not.

I received this message about 3 months ago.

"Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding the new
Bluetooth phone technology. Your 2004 BMW 530i will be compatible with
the Bluetooth accessory phone kit. However, BMW is in the final stages of
releasing the Bluetooth accessory kit. I suggest contacting the Parts
Manager at your local BMW center for details including pricing and
availability.

BMW has tested and approved the following Bluetooth phones: Sony
Ericsson T68i/T616/T610; Nokia 6310i or the Siemens S56/S55. Please contact
your local wireless store or wireless carrier for pricing and
availability of the phone handsets."

I have also received e-mail both prior to and after that stated that my car won't be able to be retrofitted from BMWNA.

We shall see ......

sav,

you posted previously that there will be a retrofit available for MY2004 cars in October. Are you saying BMWNA keeps gving you conflicting reports? I checked on the Verizon website and they dont list any of those phones. Can anyone confirm this? You would think BMW would make sure that at least one of the Bluetooth phones was one from Americas largest wireless company. BTW I just picked up the v710 also, great phone!

I have a V710, but I am still waiting for some kind of Bluetooth availability for my car.

The phone works pretty good, except Verizon had OBEX disabled and the camera is not as good as I would have expected.

As a phone, however, no complaints.

I am currently with Verizon too......but that may change soon. It is not BMW's fault that Verizon uses CDMA and not GSM....and it is also not BMW's fault that phone manufacturers do not want to make any Bluetooth phones for CDMA. Since the V710 came out only a few weeks ago I would not be surprised if BMW does not test it for compatibility for a few months, let alone offer a cradle.

The V710 MAY already be compatible (since it works in the TL), but I also heard that it wll get a software upgrade from Motorola soon to make if fully Bluetooth compatible.
