I recently bought a 2007 CPO 530xi. I traded in a 2006 330i. My iPhone 3GS was rock solid with the 330i bluetooth. Sound was excellent and so was connectivity. With the 530xi it is totally the other way round. Sporadically the phone disappers from the console and takes a while to reconnect. What is worse is that the audio quality is also flaky.

So i called my local BMW dealership (Sun Motors) but the service consultant was a total idiot. He eventually tells me that it is not a warrenty issue so they'll have to charge me just to bring in the car! Anyway now i am here to see if this is a known issue and if there is a software upgrade on the vehicle that can solve this problem.

Try deleting the profile on both the phone and the car first. Most dealers won't work on them since they trace most issues back tot he phones, hince not their problem. I had this happen last week , but it worked. Also make sure your Iphone software is up to date, and possibly try it on another car to see if it is not the phone.

Also if the volume is low after the phone has synced up mid call push the volume up on the side of the phone... this will raise the volume for the Blue tooth. It only works during a call , but once you do it it will stay up.

Most of the soft ware updates past a certain revision point won't help. Have you tried the BMW Assist yet, if it is not working you may have a bad communications module.
