I had to have my dealer activate the Bluetooth system which required reprogramming the iDrive system, cost was $304.00... I have seen other posts showing dealers charging less.

Yes I assume this is what I will have to do, i am droping it off on Monday, i will post the results, they said it might be from a upgrade of the software before i bought the car.

Well I droped the car off this morning, they had to keep it overnight as they could not fix it in one day.. Im guessing they did not even start on it, but the SA said sometimes they have to keep the car for a few days as they have to be on the phone with techinical people at BMW if there is a computer issue?? odd i thought..

Not as odd as you might think...

Usually (and depending on the dealer's level of experience) when the car's software is modified or updated, things often crash which forces them to start over, etc. In the case of a complete software update, the process can take more than half a day just to complete the part where they hook the car up to the computer and perform the download and the install.

Many dealerships will start the update in the afternoon and let it run overnight and hope that in the morning, there are no surprises. If there is, they can restart it first thing and hope to get things completed by the end of the day...

That's strange -- you lost perspective view (and had it before?) Sounds like they downgraded your software -- I don't understand why they needed to do that...

Yes i thought that was odd also..

Other menu changes, for Audio settings it used to say (Logic 7) now it says (surround sound), and some other things changes as far as name changes. Only thing I see missing is the perspective view, which maybe not a big deal as it didnt have street names on it anyway.

I just picked up my pre-owner 2005 530i last week - the bluetooth was not activated and had to get the dealership to update the software. They did it this morning and I was able to pair up my BB 8700 - works great and best of all, no charge from the dealership

Regards
Zul.
