Yesterday I called BMW Canada and even though the brochures says
"-Preparation for car telephone and BMW Assist incl. Bluetooth technology" they tell me that it is not included as standard in the 2005 545i in Canada. They said that it is partially installed and needs additional software/hardware. Anyone in Canada experience this? Did you have to pay for it to be enableed? Any tips?

Thanks

Leon

That sounds pretty similar to the US situation. It really isn't complicated, just making certain that the idrive computer has 13.3 version minimum, and then configured to run BT. It isn't a big deal to set that up at the dealership, and I can't imagine that they are subtracting any hardware from what they are offering anywhere else.

Hey Canada545,

Did he say that those phones would work without an upcharge? Or did he give you that impression?

I asked him point blank "does the 545i come standard blue tooth enabled", he said "yes, in the 2005, its standard equipment but he said the phone had to be compatiable", which he then provided the list of phones which I listed above ...

No mention about upcharges, didn't get that impression at all ...

I have a 07/04 530i. All my dealer did was upgrade the software. Charged me $195.00 eventhough they had to keep the car overnight. Sony T610 works great for me.
