Hello everyone. I have a 2004 525i with a 05/2004 build date. Do I have the TCU that can just be activated by BMW for bluetooth or do I have to replace it? Thanks guys.

I have a 05/2004 build 530i and all i needed was the software update to activate the Bluetooth function so i would assume that is all you need

Yep, that's all you need. Member SMG353 just got the update on his '04 545 and he now has Bluetooth on his car.

Adding to the thread, last week I posted that my 2004 545i build date 07/04 had the BT enabled , software only. No TCu needed.
Just some more info.

This has been discussed many times on this forum. For those that have not been able to use the search function to find the Service Bulletin that explains this in detail, here it is. This should answer most of the above questions.
