I just finished a CF roof for an E46 and a gloss black one for a CLK the other day. I'll try to get those pictures up soon.

Here are the pictures of the car we did the other day. I think it came out great.

The owner of the car couldn't even believe that it was vinyl, even though he watched the entire process, while we were putting it onto his car. It even has texture/feel like real carbon fiber fabric/material.

Let me know how the pictures look, hopefully the carbon fiber weave came out clear enough in the pictures.

Either way, you've been a member since 07 and still have not donated to this forum and you are not part of the "Contributors" group....

IMO, you are getting some free ad space for the service you provide for a good price...

perhaps it's time to Donate

Spoken to don about this already. I might flip the game and throw matte white roof, hood and trunk on my black M5, lol
Sounds interesting.

How about silver?

I have seen a Metallic Burgundy colour Range Rover sport with silver roof and V bonnet in my neighbourhood.

It look surprisingly good.

Silver roof and V bonnet may look good on a black car.

Hopefully will be applying my vinyl this weekend so will upload pics.

Wish I'd got the CF vinyl now

From there, I'd need to make the necessary adjustments, in order to get the cuts to be perfect to the e60 roof, antenna, and sunroof. The cost for a custom job like that would end up costing more than if you were to fly me out there and have me install it on your car. Most, if not all, graphics are usually cut/trimmed once it is applied onto the car.

Let me know.
Just a thought... Once you had that perfect template, couldn't you just cut a bunch of them? If you were to make that custom e60 template, and offer it here on the e60 forums, then you would probably get a whole bunch of people that would be willing to pay for it. If you charge a reasonable price (around $120-$150) for it, wouldn't you make back your up front costs over the first 5-10 people?

I have no idea how much this costs, but a pre-cut template would probably be something many people that don't live in your area would pay for...

I don't know much about this stuff, but I for one would be much more interested in buying a template, instead of just a sheet that I would have to figure out how to cut and adjust myself... The application would be more than enough for me to worry about.

I tried my first vinyl roof install yesterday and it went pretty terrible. I chalked it up as a learning experience and will most likely be trying again soon. Some tips for the newbies.....first make sure the vinyl is in pristine condition before you even begin to think about installing it. You NEED to use a heat gun. I tried for the first like 25 min without one and did enough damage (in terms of creases, wrinkles, etc) that even once I had a heat gun, I could not fix all the areas. I would not attempt installing a roof without 3 people. One person to stretch, one person to use the heat gun (carefully! I burned a few holes that progressively got larger with stretching), and one person to use the squeegee. I would also consider getting one of their "teflon" ones because I used a credit card wrapped in a microfiber cloth and it didn't work out great. I tried to use just the credit card and it left some scratch marks. Grrr, I could tell that if done properly, this would have looked amazing. The quality of the vinyl seems really good and can be stretched a ton and reapplied a few times. If you have any specific questions PM me and I can try and help as much as possible. Don, I'm most likely going to place the same order again for 2 more gloss black yards...

Honestly, making a template is very time consuming. Pretty much all car wraps are cut after/once it is applied on the car.

I basically would have to figure out how to trace the roof, then cut it out on my large plotter. Test fit it back on the roof, which means doing an actual install, and making more adjustments from there if necessary. Rinse and repeat until everything was done. As you can imagine, this would take quite a bit of time.

Shipping a precut piece is also not easy, since the edges of the vinyl are more flexible/flimsy per say, they do get damaged easier. I am sure there's a way around this, but it's still one of those things to consider.

If I had 10 people pre pay me for a pre cut roof piece, then I would consider making one.
