Either way, I have worked with all white finishes before. Matte, gloss, and satin whites.
My race car has some Alpine White III on it, and the white vinyl is a lot whiter than the alpine color. The alpine color is actually slightly yellowish, so it doesn't match the vinyl at all too well.
