Don't worry about rain getting inside the scoop. I drove to Vegas this past Memorial Day weekend in the rain and had zero issues with my scoops.

+1 no issues with the rain. back when I had my scoop installed, there were the socal fires and Eloy was asking if I wanted to cut out the mesh part in the air duct since the M5s dont have them and other e60s dont have them. others were driving with the scoops and they lived in the areas where the fires were, some even driving through the desert and they had no issues having the scoop either.
