Everything made in Taiwan and China or Thailand is fake. It is "authentic" which means "looks like"...

Ok.
I just checked the BMW website and this "BMW Performance" product is only available for the 1 series and 3 series.

Like Gene wrote, it will be interesting to see what this rep looks and how the fitment on a 5er would work. The one pictured simply won't fit -- its a different console etc

it's probably the same concept of retrofitting an M illuminated shifter onto a step so not that difficult.

Yepp, it's not listed for the 5-series, but maybe it's the same fittings? How does the standard 3-series auto stick look like?

I didn't notice if the seller ever mention the shifter is made in Taiwan or China. Besides, not everything made in Taiwan or China is fake, according to Iceman. I happen to own many electronic gadgets, name brand clothing, PS3 that are made in China, and made in China only. It's just sad seeing people automatically assume it's defected, fake or just overall bad quality when they see "made in China". My 2 cents.

peter there's a bit of history with this seller here...I doubt Iceman was trying to imply everything from that country is fake, rather the seller is located in that country..and his first few items for sale were not authentic as he initially advertised....

and peter...check in on the so cal member thread

Is there such a thing as an authentic rep?

Given his history, I'd pass on this guys ...
