This is probably old news by now, but I finally got around to reading some of my car magazines.

Anyway our British friends from CAR had spyshots and some details of the redesigned 7er (MY2009).

Sorry, don't have a handy scanner so no pics, but it's probably floating out there somewhere in Internet rumor flotsam. I believe Edmunds had some spyshots that were pretty representative.

Personally, I like the new look, especially the front fascia and headlights.

Also, to my own personal glee, the return of the center mounted drive shifter (as opposed to the shift stalk currently on the E65/66).

Yup, pretty sure it did mention the drive shifter going back to where it belongs -- i.e. next to the armrest.

In fact, CAR said something about the shifter not only going front/back (like the Step), but also sideways, as in left-right.

But not their latest flagship sedan S-class.
Funny that Mercedes made theirs identical to the 7-series located on the steering column and now BMW wants to put it back onto the center console.

Itd be pretty crazy if BMW decided to do neither... and come out with a brand new technology... maybe Drive/Reverse/Neutral buttons on the steering wheel?
